Journey for "Your Own Show" on Oprah's network -

I am so glad that I entered the "Your OWN Show" contest on Oprah.com. It has been such an amazing journey. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can continue in the contest. Regardless of the outcome, I have had an awakening as to what an amazing support team I have out there. My heart was touched as I watched the votes flow in. I submitted my video on the very last day of the contest and was only in the voting rounds for 1 full week. The fact that I received 35, 896 votes from people all over the United States in just 7 days is remarkable.



I wish to personally thank ALL who voted for me and showed me support from afar. People posted my video on their Facebook, My Space, Hi 5 pages. Many tweeted my audition video. children wrote songs about my quest to become a talk show show. They made video's and posted them on YOUTUBE.

 Two little girls put my name on a bridge over the main Freeway here in Ogden, Utah! The girls made the banner with 400 red cups. what imaginations!

It's been quite a ride these past 7 days!

Country singer Nathan Osmond is a family man who treasures being a husband and father of three boys. At the same time, he enjoys sharing his music with others. He's been writing songs and putting melodies together on his keyboard for several years.

In 2009, Osmond took his passion for writing meaningful lyrics to the next level and released his debut solo album "Feels like Heaven." "I was what you'd call a ‘Country convert,'" he said. "I never thought I'd be doing this for a living, but I was surrounded by it and loved it."

Osmond grew up around music. His father Alan Osmond was part of the 1970s Pop/Rock musical group the Osmonds. The family continues doing live shows today.

Osmond's love for country music started when he spent time with a family member. "My cousin Travis sat me down and played me some country songs," he said. "That's when he introduced me to a guy named Garth [Brooks]." Osmond said he was surprised with the sound of the songs. He'd heard past country music, but didn't feel as strong of a connection with it. "Country music had changed," he said. "I thought, ‘These people are singing about God and real life situations. I realized my daily life is Country.'" After hearing a few songs, he instantly found a connection.

Before his album released, Osmond made a decision – one he kept private. He decided to go to Nashville, Tenn. to work on song writing. "I didn't tell anyone about this so no one would talk me out of my dreams," he said. For Osmond, following a dream is important and said "You shouldn't let anyone talk you out of anything - no matter who they are. Follow your path."

Osmond set out on a songwriting mission and gave himself one rule to follow: think positive. A positive trip is what he experienced.

Osmond said he spent a lot of his time networking in Nashville. "Opportunities don't just work for you," he said. "You have to work hard and make them happen." After arriving, he reached out to Lonestar band member Dean Sams. Osmond knew him before traveling and remembered an invite Sams gave him to work on music together. He took Sams offer and reached out to him.

After Osmond arrived in Nashville, the two spoke briefly by phone. Both guys got together late one night and started working. Osmond said Sams wanted to see what he could do musically, so he directed him toward a piano and asked him to play a couple songs. "After I played a few, Dean looked at me and said, ‘Nate, I play the keys too and you make that look easy,'" he said speaking of Sams. "‘That was amazing.'"

Sams response inspired Osmond. "I was like ‘holy cow,'" he said. "Fireworks are going off inside." The compliment excited Osmond and had him thinking about his upcoming album. According to him, "Feels like Heaven" is special because it's his first solo release and every song has deep meaning behind it.

His song "I Believe in Love" is one Lonestar planned on using, but never got to. Since the song wasn't going to make a Lonestar track listing, Osmond asked Sams if he could have the song back for his album. "Dean was fine with it and said to me, ‘If you're going to use it, let's do it right,'" he said speaking of Sams. The two went into a studio and finalized the track for Osmond's album.

After returning from Nashville, Osmond came back with four finished songs and an uplifting feeling about his music. He said his father contributes toward his positive attitude about his music. "Often times, you have to go out there and believe in yourself," he said. "My father worked with me and believed in me."

Another mentor in Osmond's life is his uncle Donny Osmond. "Donny is very passionate about music and brutally honest about what he hears," he said. Osmond sent Donny a copy of the album and waited for his response. "Donny e-mailed me and said ‘I was pleasantly surprised,'" he said speaking of Donny. "There wasn't one song I didn't love." Osmond said Donny broke down every song in his e-mail and explained why he enjoyed the songs.

Osmond is proud of "Feels like Heaven" because he put his entire heart into it. "There's a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind it," he said. According to him, motivating people through his music is his goal with the album.

Since "Feels like Heaven" released, Osmond's reflected on the journey he's taken and said "At the end of the day, songs live on after we are gone and that's what we want to be remembered for."

A Song for Kylie

The Songs of Love foundation have helped 21,000 kids and counting.

John Beltzer, the founder of the Songs of Love Foundation came to Santa Monica this weekend to co-create a song for 10-year-old leukemia patient, Kylie Becker, who is undergoing treatment at Los Angeles Children's Hospital.

He enlisted the talents of country singer Nathan Osmond (yes, of that Osmond family) and lyricist Tony Asher, the co-writer of the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds."

Beltzer founded Songs of Love in 1996, a dozen years after his twin brother Julio committed suicide.

Just before his death, Julio had written a piece called "Songs of Love" which included the lines: "Songs of love are really what we need to take away our fear, and make the best of love."

These lines inspired Beltzer, a musician and songwriter, to create songs for sick children. He called it a simple, but powerful concept, which he then turned into the Songs of Love Foundation.

Since then, he's written thousands of songs, each one dedicated to an individual child in need of a boost.

The song he co-wrote this weekend for Kylie with Osmond and Asher was the organization's 21,000th song. The Songs of Love Foundation has a staff of 12 people -- including Beltzer -- and about 200 freelance songwriters.

While he and Nathan strummed out a melody, Asher worked on the words.

Usually, a doctor or a parent or a relative contacts Songs of Love and provides information that describes the child, her pets, her toys, her likes and her musical preferences.

Kylie was a country music fan. So they crafted a song that could have come out of the Nashville playbook:

Each song costs the foundation about $250 to make and the demand continues to rise. To pay for the costs, the foundation accepts donations, both in dollars and used cars.

The real payoff for Beltzer seems to be in the difference the songs make in the children's lives and in the lives of those people who love them.

Nathan Osmond, the son of Alan Osmond of the 1970s band The Osmond Brothers, has been touring Wal-Marts to acknowledge the company’s staff and customers’ support of the Children’s Miracle Network. Wal-Mart sells red and yellow paper balloons to raise money for the network, which in Montana raises money for Shodair’s Children’s Hospital in Helena. According to organizers, Shodair provided about $4 million in care last year to patients who otherwise couldn’t have afforded it.

Country singer Nathan Osmond performs at Bozeman Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart shoppers in Bozeman were treated to a surprise Wednesday as country musician Nathan Osmond performed in the store.

Osmond, the son of entertainer Alan Osmond (and nephew of famed 70s duo Donny & Marie Osmond), has been touring the state the last few days, stopping in Great Falls, Helena, and Butte before making his way to Bozeman.

He's thanking Wal-Mart for its support of the Children's Miracle Network.

“My grandma Osmond is the one that had the dream, the vision back 27 years ago around our kitchen table, 'Let's do something that helps all these kids'. And Joe Lake was there, and Shannon, and they put something together. Thanks to these guys, since 1987 Wal-Mart has been a sponsor of Children's Miracle Network,” Osmond said.

Osmond's next stop is in Billings before he returns home on Thursday.

"MEET ME IN MONTANA" - Nathan Osmond Style...

Nathan Osmond flew to Great Falls, Montana last Tuesday November 10, 2009 to thank all the Walmart's/Sam's Club's associates for all their years of support of Children's Miracle Network. Nathan's grandmother, Olive Osmond was the one who started the foundation back 27 years ago around her kitchen table.

Walmart’s partnership with Children's Miracle Network began in 1987 with a three-way handshake between “Mr. Sam” (Walton) from Walmart, the Children's Miracle Network CEO, and Nathan's Aunt Marie Osmond. Since that time they have raised more than $480 million!

Nathan thanked them for giving back to the children in their community and for understanding that their children need and deserve the best health care possible.

More than 17 million children with every imaginable illness and injury are treated each year at Children's Miracle Network hospitals, no matter their family’s ability to pay, gender, race, etc.

Nathan started the tour by singing at the Great Fall's Walmart where he did television and radio interviews. He sang for all the employees and met one of Montana's Miracle Kids, who was treated in Shodair Children’s Hospital, Zachary Bell, Age 11. Zach was hospitalized in Shodair’s acute psychiatric care unit where he was diagnosed with three psychiatric conditions: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and major depression. Zach took a liking to Nathan and wanted to show him all around the store. His grandma, Anna works at there.

Nathan then drove to Butte, Montana where he entertained more Walmart employees at the Butte, MT Walmart. His posters were all over the store and he stayed to sign autographs. Nathan slept in Helena, MT that night.

The next morning, Nathan was privileged to meet the kids at Shodair Children's Hospitals. He visited with the teenage patients in the cafeteria during their breakfast time and even sang them his NEW single, "SWEET." He was a big hit. He left to go sing for the employee's morning meeting at Helena's Walmart superstore and even led the gang in the official Walmart cheer.

Nathan did more radio interviews and headed back to the hospital to meet some of the younger kids. He sang, danced and even did a Sponge Bob Squarepants impersonation for the kids. Nathan was swarmed with a giant group hug which almost brought him to tears. It was hard to leave, but a large crowd awaited him at the Bozeman Walmart Superstore. Nathan sang for the gang and even did a TV interview in the store. He even ran into an old classmate of his there.

After signing autographs, Nathan headed to yet one more Walmart in Billings, MT. This was the biggest turn-out of them all. Nathan presented an award to Robyn Thompson, a cashier who single handedly sold more fundraising balloons than 1,000 stores combined. Nathan had dinner with the manager and several of the staff that night.

Nathan's visit to Montana was a HUGE success and the people of Walmart appreciated his kind words. Nathan fell in love with the state that his aunt Marie and Dan Seal's sang about ("Meet Me In Montana"), especially the kids at Shodair Children's Hospital. Walmart is anticipating some BIG things out of Nathan and are even looking into the possibility of getting his album in their stores. More to come from Country's newest face, Nathan Osmond!!!
